Happy New Year! I thought it timely to provide a brief update on SPH’s recent commissions and prospects for 2016.
Firstly however I sincerely hope it is an excellent year for everyone, filled with successes and prosperity.
We are starting the year strongly with projects in our specialist aged care division progressing, including our work on Narrogin Cottage Homes. The project is now in construction documentation and is programmed to go to tender in the first quarter of this year. The scope of the project includes much needed alterations to bring the existing facility up to 9C BCA classification; additional beds and a purpose-built 14 bed care facility for people with dementia. It is an exciting project that will greatly enhance the health and wellbeing of residents living with dementia in the Wheatbelt region.
In 2016 we are continuing our work at North Metropolitan Health Service Mental Health sites including Selby Lodge and Graylands Hospital.
We are progressing work with Southern Cross Care and PDC Project Management on the redevelopment of Kaleeya in East Fremantle to create a residential aged care facility and integrated health and wellness centre.
In addition to this, SPH are working towards a development approval for a large aged care development in the City of Armadale.
The beginning of this year sees the Metro Hotel in South Perth almost ready to be unveiled. We were tasked with creating a new entry statement for the building; the refurbishment of the reception, bar and restaurant areas; and the fitout of the extended function centre. The design intent was to create a youthful and modern Australian aesthetic through accents of tertiary colour combined with blonde timbers. The project is in the last few weeks of construction and we are excited to showcase the final results.
Also currently under construction is a commercial interiors project with the interior refurbishment of Canning House in Willetton. This project is about rejuvenating an existing building to bring about a modern, simple and efficient space for a diverse range of tenants.
We look forward to developing our design for the exciting Waterbank Precinct in East Perth with Lend Lease this year – image above.
SPH also have The Pilbara Institute, a government project for Building Management and Works, moving into contract administration, with site visits commencing immediately.
Looking forward into 2016 we will continue to partner with clients, project managers and government departments to achieve outstanding results for the built environment.
SPH remain committed to providing our team with a great workplace and enviable culture. We all enjoyed celebrating the successes of 2015 at our annual Christmas weekend away in Bunker Bay (which you can check out a few photos from on our Facebook page).
2016 is set to be a very exciting year and all of us at SPH look forward to working with you!
