I recently accompanied Melinda Marshall (Town Planner) and Kerry White (Civil Engineer) on a trip to Carnarvon led by Whelans to investigate Brockman Park. The Shire has commissioned the team to develop a structure plan enabling development for the aging population in the Gascoyne Region.
Here we are at the top of the viewing tower overlooking the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct, home to the One Mile Jetty, the Kimberley Steam Train and Lighthouse Keepers Cottage.
We also visited Carnarvon Hospital to hear about plans for a new aged care facility being developed by the WA Country Health Service.
The trip culminated in a workshop facilitated by Greg Comiskey of Whelans where representatives from the local community were able to share their experiences and vision for the aging population.
Thank you to Project Manager Helen Karageorgiou and Planner Rob Pringle from the Shire of Carnarvon for making us welcome.
And for those heading to Carnarvon a stop at Morel’s for a chocolate coated banana is highly recommended!
