A complex fitout combining 4 tenancies underneath a cinema complex for community mental health services. A combination of consumer interview and treatment areas alongside multi-purpose ‘sticky spaces’ and administration spaces with areas designed to mitigate self-harm. The design is focussed on providing an enabling, engaging, and safe environment for all staff and consumers.

The tenancies are located underneath a cinema complex with the natural light only available on the entry side of the building.  Our design maximises the use of borrowed light and includes light-play with ceiling textures where natural light is not available.

Further, working with an acoustic engineer is an imperative part of this project.  The cinemas above relay noise similar to distant thunder which is not conducive to mental health treatment and well-being of the users.  With effective communication and reporting we are able to mitigate intrusive noise from above.
