CAHS 1 Midland Square
The CAHS Midland Hub is the culmination of the implementation of the Western Australian (WA) Sustainable Health Review (SHR). It is an early demonstration project that tests the centralisation of community-based clinical services that have previously been delivered by CAHS in multiple small tenancies throughout the metro area.
The Hub is based on a ‘hub and spoke’ model of service delivery, with co-located services helping to achieve better inter-service coordination.
Midland Community Hub is a larger hub of 3,000sqm tenancy that accommodates multiple CAHS health services, including: universal (for all), targeted, specialist, and development and mental health services. It is located within the Midland Square building, and was delivered as part of a integrated tenancy fitout with 3 other government tenancy fitouts of ranging sizes.
The mix of services within the hub required considered spatial planning that supported cross-discipline collaborative care, while still responding to each service’s unique requirements.
The fitout implements a number of strategies to create a supportive, welcoming, and accessible environment. Key strategies include acoustic finishing treatments, the introduction of natural light, and passive wayfinding.
